Queilen

This town named for the red cypress trees that dot the area sits on an elongated peninsula and, as such, is the only town on Isla Grande with two seafronts. Though Chiloé's windy, rainy, and cold climate is mostly unfavorable for typical beach activities, the beauty of the unspoiled seaside is unquestionable. Two of Isla Grande's best beaches are the Playa de Queilén, in the center of town, and the Playa Lelbun, 15 km (9 miles) northwest of the city.
