To safeguard their control, the Dutch wisely, yet futilely built more than one fortress. In this one (c. 1629) you find reminders of those precarious days in the on-site Museu Militar, with its collection of old cannons, infantry weapons, and soldiers' utensils; there's even a skeleton of a soldier that dates from 1654. The fort also has a restaurant.
