Civilization seems hundreds of miles away at this thatch-hut lakeside lodge. Twenty individual screened round thach-huts are elevated 1 meter (3 feet) aboveground and connected to the rest of the lodge by walkways. Lighting is provided by 12-volt batteries and kerosene lamps (generators would keep wildlife away), and there's no hot water, but what it lacks in luxury, it more than makes up for by putting you in the middle of the tropical forest. They have many other arrangements including three- and four-night stays. Pros: Staying in beautiful large bungalows. Cons: Putting up with humidity and cold water.
