Famiglia Mancini

Famiglia Mancini Review

This busy little cantina is well loved for both its cuisine and its location. It's on a singular, unforgettable strip of Rua Avandhandava, where you may find yourself admiring the cobblestones on the street as you wait for a table. An incredible buffet with cheeses, olives, sausages, and much more makes finding a tasty appetizer a cinch. The menu has many terrific pasta options, such as the cannelloni with palm hearts and a four-cheese sauce. All dishes serve two people.

A few years ago this restaurant was one of my favorites. However, about a year or so ago, the place closed for remodeling. The restaurant is open again. However, the quality of the food and service has taken a major decline. In addition, the prices have increased far more than inflation has in Brazil.

I was at the restaurant last month when they reopened. When I asked why my favorite item from this Italian restaurant was not on the menu, the waiter brought me a different color menu and said the item was there. However, the item was not in the other menu. When I advised the waiter I would like to order chicken marmesan, he said they did not have it anymore. Then, a few minutes later, another waiter came to me and said they did have it. In the meantime, the waiters forgot to bring forks and knives to the table. The waiter also forgot to remove a third dish at the tiny table assigned to us. The tiny table was filled with unnecessary items such as a vase with flowers and a large basket of bread. This left only a small eating area on the table. When the meal finally arrived, the waiter left the food on a table behind us for about five minutes before he brought it to our table. Not once during the time we were eating did a waiter ask if we wanted anything or if everything was okay. When we were ready to leave, we had to ask for the bill four different times. The waiters were running around like they did not know what they were doing (and they probably did not know what they were doing). By the way, the chicken parmesan cost more than R$100.00 which is about R$40.00 more than it cost prior to the renovation of the restaurant. I doubt that I will return to the restaurant again unless one of my friends insists on it as a choice.

I am in Sao Paulo nearly every month and have a chance to sample many different restaurants.

Famiglia Mancini is no longer on my must visit list.

The best brazilian place to feel you in Italy and eat a paste. I love Famiglia Mancini!
