Mosteiro de São Bento
Mosteiro de São Bento Review
This unique, Norman-Byzantine church constructed between 1910 and 1922 was designed by German architect Richard Berndl. Its enormous organ has some 6,000 pipes, and its Russian image of the Kasperovo Virgin is covered with 6,000 pearls from the Black Sea. If you go on Sunday, don't miss the 10 am mass and the monks' Gregorian chants.
