Walking Tour: Avenida Paulista

Begin at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP),which has one of Brazil's best collections of fine art. Across the street is Parque Trianon, where many businesspeople eat lunch. Leaving the park, veer right onto Avenida Paulista and head for the Centro Cultural FIESP,which frequently has art and theatrical presentations. Continue a few more blocks along Avenida Paulista or take the subway to the Instituto Itaú Cultural,a great place to see digital and contemporary Brazilian art. In the next block is Casa das Rosas, where you can rest your feet at a beautiful Versailles-inspired garden.

Timing & Precautions

This tour takes about two to three hours, including a brief visit to MASP. Busy, well-lighted Avenida Paulista may well be the safest place in the city. Even so, stay alert and hold onto your bags, particularly in Parque Trianon.
