***BEWARE** JEWELRY SCAM. While on a South American cruise on Holland America they stopped in the port of Salvador de Bahia. I was shopping in town for a tourmaline, a Paraiba tourmaline mined in Brazil...as you can now get these stones from Mozambique and Nigeria, but they are not as valuable as the ones from "Brazil". SANTOS SIMON JOALEIROS (JEWELERS) was where I purchased my stone from, I spoke at length with the sales associate Cristina
Madrid, and she assured me this was a "Brazilian" stone mined in Brazil and she stated this on the certificate from the store. I purchased the stone and then sent it to GIA for origin evaluation and low and behold it was from Mozambique Africa!!!!! I contacted them via email and they basically back pedaled and claimed that they were speaking in generalities, etc, etc and were not going to provide a refund...so PLEASE AVOID THIS JEWELRY STORE AT ALL COSTS!!!! SCAMMERS and FRAUDULENT JEWERLY SALES!!! I have all of the documentation if anyone would like to see. I am now having to seek legal restitution against them.
