Salvador and the Bahia Coast Sights

Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado

Updated 06/24/2013

Fodor's Review

This colonial mansion set on the Pelourinho provides a window into the life, work, and inspiration of Bahia's best beloved writer, Jorge Amado. Lovers of his literature will be lost for hours perusing through the photos, books, and old belongings, while those yet to delve into Bahia's past through the likes of "Gabriela, Cloves and Cinammon" will be left hunting for an immediate download. There is also a nice coffee shop that provides great viewing over the square. On

Wednesdays there's free admission.
