Replicas of early sailing ships hanging in the lobby hint at the hotel's themes: sailing and the discovery of Brazil. The Porão da Nau Pub & Club, off the lobby, is decorated in the style of a ship's hold, making it a unique place for drinks and dancing. If you prefer a cocktail in the sun, head for the enormous poolside bar. The main restaurant, the Île de France, serves fine French cuisine. Rooms look almost like the staterooms of an elegant ship with their dark-wood furniture and beige walls and drapes. Sliding-glass doors lead out to individual balconies with hammocks that overlook the gardens, with tall palm trees and the beautiful beach beyond.
