Fodor's Review

Formerly the headquarters of the Banco do Brasil, in the late 1980s this opulent six-story domed building with marble floors was transformed into a space for plays, art exhibitions, and music recitals. Today the CCBB is one of the city's most important cultural centers, with a bookstore, three theaters, a video hall, four individual video booths, a movie theater, two auditoriums, a restaurant, a coffee shop, a children's library, and a tearoom. It's open Wednesday through Sunday between 10 am and 9 pm, and there are regular children's shows on weekends.
