Cafecito Review

Coffee culture is only just taking off in Rio, and Cafecito is among the few places so far to capture the essence of "café society." A leafy terrace overlooking Santa Teresa's main eating, drinking, and shopping strip provides a relaxed setting for brunches, lunches, and early-evening nibbles and cocktails. The knickknack-strewn café serves what's arguably the city's best cappuccino—with a dusting of cinnamon and a morsel of gooey chocolate brownie—but the food menu also has plenty to recommend it. The standouts include the toasted ciabatta sandwiches (the ham and Minas cheese is a simple but tasty option) and some pleasingly rustic baked mushrooms with melted Gorgonzola. Cafecito is a great place to start your evening before making the descent to the boisterous bars of nearby Lapa.
