This informal restaurant and bar specializes in tasty German dishes. Established in 1887, it has held its current location since 1927. House specialties include white bratwurst with potato salad dressed in a delicious homemade mayonnaise (R$27). Bypass the less-than-impressive wine list in favor of the draft chopp (beer), which comes in light and dark varieties, both served estupidamente gelado (stupidly cold). The wooden tables, tiled floor, and wall-mounted photographs of old Rio combine to create a pleasingly rustic ambience.
