In a city where Chinese food has long been associated with low-budget dining, this restaurant tossed out the rule book, attracting a discerning clientele with top-quality Peking-style cuisine. The head chef here is the famous Mr. Lam, formerly of Mr Chow, first at the London branch and then in New York City. The downstairs dining room of his Rio venue is spacious and well illuminated by enormous windows, but for the ultimate experience book a table on the top floor. At night the roof retracts to allow dining beneath the stars, and you can request a spot directly beneath the gaze of Christ the Redeemer. The satay chicken and Peking duck are two of the signature dishes. You can dine à la carte, but most patrons choose from one of the set menus (from R$95 to R$145 per person).
