Rio Othon Palace Review

The flagship of the Brazilian Othon chain, this 30-story hotel is not new, and the ambience is functional rather than luxurious, but it does have a prime view of Copacabana's distinctive black-and-white sidewalk mosaic from the rooftop pool, bar, and sundeck. The executive floor has secretarial support, fax machines, and computer hookups. Executive rooms are modern and smart with a gray-and-white decor, but standard rooms are dated. All suites, junior and executive, have a balcony facing Copacabana and are spacious and well appointed for the price. Although some will love the Copacabana beachfront setting, the hotel is in a spot that is known for red-light activity and can be dangerous at night. Take taxis after dark.
