Satyricon

Satyricon Review

Some of the best seafood in town is served at this eclectic Italian seafood restaurant, which has impressed the likes of Madonna and Sting. The fish baked in a thick layer of rock salt is a specialty, and the sushi and sashimi are well loved.

Uma incrível noturno. Muito obrigado Brazil. Beautiful and cosy décor absolutely suited for a romantic dinner for two, with unobtrusive yet attentive waiter service, a knowledgeable sommelier with some wonderful wines. An astonishing display of fresh fish just inside. I had baked fish with langoustine and octopus in a rich sauce. My companion had grilled octopus hors d’oeuvre, followed by one of the biggest steaks I had ever seen. This place is not cheap. We were drinking Champagne all evening and we spent (or he did) $400 U.S. (750BRL). It was a night to remember though. Thank you Jack.

My boyfriend made reservations having read Fodors review. The restaurant is upscale and the atmosphere and service reflected so. The menu is extensive but I recalled the pargo specialty (fish baked in a thick layer of rock salt) and ordered that for my entree. My boyfriend had one of the steaks. My fish was brought covered in salt and shown to us... then it was taken back to the kitchen (we were told) to be cleaned up. I was expecting some unique flavor from the salt... I was not impressed. The fish was rather bland! It came with a baked potato and vegetables. The portion was adequate. My boyfriend did not care for his steak with fries but I thought its sauce gave it a more interesting flavor than my fish! We also had a side dish of creamed spinach (huge portion) and a dessert recommended by the waiter (chocolate covered vanilla ice cream in guava sauce) which he claimed was freshly made at the restaurant. The dessert was very tasty. We had a bottle of wine and bottled water... we spent a little over $100 US in this dinner... This dinner was supposed to be one of the highlights of our vacation... it really wasn't. Other people at the restaurant were having lobster and other dishes that seemed more interesting than the pargo. If you go, ask for recommendations but keep in mind that they will try to stir you towards the more expensive dishes on the menu!
