This pricey but much-loved establishment is famous for its flawless rendering of Portuguese classics, including many cod dishes. The couvert includes tasty cod-and-potato balls, seafood rissoles, and imported cheeses. Seafood dishes are by far the best options. The chef prepares the shrimp cocktail simply but elegantly, and the vast seafood risotto is a knockout. The wine list is impressive, if predictably expensive, and the knowledgeable sommelier is always on hand to give tips on food and wine pairings.

when you see the prices on its menu. The duck rice is very popular but tasted a bit salty, a common trait for many Brazilian resturants. The fried cod we ordered turned out to be the most expensive dish on the menu (at USD30) but we barely touched it. The long queue of locals at the bar at 11pm on a weekday night makes it hard to believe that the average monthly local wage is only USD100 for the country.

We ordered the Cataplana, which was excellent, but the lamb was average. Srvc was very good also. Only disappointment is that we got stuck with $10 extra for the appetizers they brought, which we didnt order and thought was complimentary when they kept bringing stuff. Dessert - skip it.
