Another of Rio's crop of tall, slender hotels, this one has a great location between Rua Vinicius de Moraes and Farme de Amoedo, where there are several bars, anchoring the eastern end of Ipanema Beach. While it isn't luxurious, the hotel has comfortable accommodations, and the interiors are crisp, clean, and modern. The lobby is small and functional, but the all-white furnishings are a nice touch. Deluxe front rooms have panoramic beach views, and back rooms from the eighth floor up, which are the same size, have views of the lagoon and Corcovado.

HOTEL: located across street from Posto 9. No problem speaking English with front desk staff. Hotel provides beach chairs/umbrellas and beach towels but you have to carry them across the street. The breakfast buffet was better than the continental free breakfasts you get at alot of US hotels: baked goods, fruits, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee(quite good), scrambled eggs, a brazilian type creamy hash brown that was quite tasty, and little hot dogs in a tomato type sauce- (they had these at the other Brazilian we stayed at too). You have to insert your room key on a slot by the room door to turn on the a/c, and the hall lights by elevator are activated by motion. (I guess to save energy),The roof top pool/bar area are quite small.
ROOM: We had an ocean view room on 9th floor--- great views. Our room was clean and well kept up, except for some mildew in shower. I left some crackers out one day, and attracted some miniscule sized ant type insects, but only a few, and after removing their food source (and squashing) they and their kin did not return. The room faces the busy street between the buildings and beach, but if the a/c is on, it masks the street noise. There was a small charge for the room safe .
I would stay here again. Its not luxurious, but has a great location.
