Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort Review

Between the upmarket neighborhoods of São Conrado and Leblon, this is the only hotel in Rio with a "private" beach. (It's open to the public, but so closed off to anything but the hotel that usually only Sheraton guests use it.) The leisure area is possibly the best in Rio, with three pools, two tennis courts, and a children's playground. However, the hotel also sits directly in front of the sprawling favela of Vidigal, which may make some guests uncomfortable. Rooms are tastefully decorated, and all have balconies with sea views, although some are very limited. The lobby was modernized in 2007, and now has a comfortable lounge with Internet access. Floors in the Towers section are reserved for business travelers. Be prepared for numerous taxi rides because of the hotel's isolated location.
