Parque do Flamengo
Parque do Flamengo Review
Flanking the Baía de Guanabara from the Glória neighborhood to Flamengo is this waterfront park. Frequently referred to as "Aterro do Flamengo," it gets its nickname from its location atop an atêrro (landfill). The park was designed by landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and paths used for jogging, walking, and biking wind through it. There are also playgrounds and public tennis and basketball courts. On weekends the freeway beside the park is closed to traffic and the entire area becomes one enormous public space.
