As you stroll along this beach you catch a cross section of the city's residents, each favoring a particular stretch. One area is dominated by families (near Posto 10), another is favored by the gay community (near Posto 8). Throughout the day you'll see groups playing beach volleyball and soccer, and if you're lucky you'll even get to see Brazilian Olympic volleyball champions practicing on the beach. There are kiosks all along the boardwalk, where you can get anything from the typical coconut water to fried shrimp and turnovers.
