A neighborhood favorite for 30-plus years, this informal tavern serves excellent Bahian cuisine in more than ample portions. Sun-dried beef is a popular choice, and vegetarians will love the set meal of queijo coalho (grilled cheese) with brown beans, rice, and seasoned farofa. Reservations are not necessary, but the restaurant is always packed on weekend evenings. Lunchtimes are much quieter, and you may be able to bag one of the two tables that offer views down to Guanabara Bay. Portions are large enough to serve two or even three.
