Amsterdam Sauer, one of Rio's top names in jewelry, has top prices. Jules Roger Sauer, the founder of these stores (with branches in Brazil, the United States, and the Caribbean), is particularly known for his fascination with emeralds. The on-site gemstone museum is open weekdays 10-6 and Saturday 9-2 (tour reservations are a good idea).
