Fodor's Review

Open since 1933, the Albamar is not hard to spot: this outstanding seafood house is inside a distinctive green octagonal building with 360-degree views of Guanabara Bay. Chef Luiz Incao arrived here from Copacabana Palace in 2009 with a major reputation—he's cooked for Princess Diana, Bill Clinton, and Mick Jagger, among others—and he works wonders with dishes such as sautéed lobster with asparagus and saffron risotto. The attentive staff are happy to advise on wine pairings. Most main dishes are large enough for two people to share. If you're just looking to nibble, order a cocktail and some classic codfish balls, sit back, and take in the spectacular view across the bay.
