All rooms at this Copacabana landmark hotel have balconies with sea views, a rarity on Avenida Atlântica. The distinctive black- and red-fronted hotel is Swiss-owned, and the tidy and modern Scandinavian design is one of its best assets. Crisp white decor is a trademark here, and the rooftop pool with its wood-paneled sundeck is first-rate, with excellent views across the bay, and of the Corcovado and the Christ statue. The hotel attracts a mix of business travelers and vacationers, who appreciate the proximity to the beach. There's a small gym, but it's more fun to join the locals and take a run along the beachfront.
