Igreja de Santo Antônio
Igreja de Santo Antônio Review
In addition to the excellent selection of handicrafts—some 20 shops line Rua Direita in the town center—the principal attraction is the Igreja de Santo Antônio. Built in 1710, it contains extremely well-preserved gilded carvings of saints, cherubs, and biblical scenes. The church's soapstone frontispiece—a celebration of baroque architecture—is attributed to Aleijadinho.
