Safety and Precautions

Crime in Santa Cruz is generally not focused on tourists as much as it is in La Paz, for example, but there is more of it, and it's dangerous. Armed robbery, kidnapping, and car theft are more common, and you should take necessary precautions. The best advice is to forget the relative safety of other Bolivian cities and behave as if you are in an average South American city.
