Getting Here and Around

International flights stop at Aeropuerto Internacional Viru-Viru in Santa Cruz before continuing to La Paz. Similarly, flights from La Paz stop in Santa Cruz on their way out of the country. The airport is about 15 km (9 mi) north of the city. Buses to the center of town depart every 20 minutes and cost about (Bs)8. Taxis run about (Bs)50. The bus ride from La Paz takes about 20 hours and cost between (Bs)69 and (Bs)174.

Santa Cruz is a driver's town, but taxis are readily available on the streets; exercise caution and always use radio taxis.
