Bodegas Tapíz Review
When the Ortiz family bought this modern bodega from Kendall Jackson in 2003, CEO Patricia Ortiz and oenologist Fabián Valenzuela decided to make "happier wines" that are easier to drink and more food-friendly. Inside the bodega, walls of loose river rocks held in place by wire mesh contrast with the slick granite walls and long corridors. Tours begin in the vineyard, followed by tank, barrel, and bottle tastings. In summer a two-horse carriage driven by a local gaucho takes you on a learning tour of the vineyard. Club Tapiz, a seven-room inn with a spa and the restaurant Terruño, is only 20 minutes away.
