Los Cauquenes Resort and Spa Review

This resort hotel is more of a gated campus, with a series of buildings and cabanas right on the shore of the Beagle Channel about 8 km (5 mi) west of town; privileged beach access and sparse development in the Barrio Bahía Cauquén means a nature hike starts right outside your room. Request one with a canal view on a higher floor, as many of the ground-floor rooms are partially underground. Rooms can get uncomfortably hot, and noise goes through the walls. Aside from the rooms, the spa, gym, and sauna are high quality, offering Thai, shiatsu, and Swedish massage, a full menu of body treatments, mud baths, and even a caviar face mask. The heated pool that flows from inside to out is spectacular, a rare treat in this part of the world. On the relatively cheap menu of the restaurant Reinamora you will find the standard Patagonian lamb, rainbow trout, and a delicious king crab served with berries.
