When to Go
January and February are Argentina's summer vacation months, meaning hotels get booked up and prices rise. Ironically, these two months coincide with rainy season, when flooding and/or landslides can block mountain roads. (Both the Tucumán-Tafí del Valle and Salta-Cachi routes are notorious for this.) Other busy times are winter break (July), Easter week, and movable feasts such as Carnival in the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Most facilities remain open year-round.
