Fodor's Expert Review Museo Folclórico Pajarito Velarde
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
The two rooms of this museum are stuffed with curiosities and background information pertaining to Guillermo "Pajarito" Velarde Mors—the consummate bohemian who brought tango to Salta and lived here from 1930 to 1965. The space is brimming with his trinkets, artworks, and possessions. Take a look at the hat that Carlos Gardel gave him and the rosewood bed that folk singer Atahualpa Yupanki slept on. Even if you're not well versed in Argentine culture from that period, the museum is a delightful tribute to a real character.
