Museo Folclórico Pajarito Velarde

Museo Folclórico Pajarito Velarde Review

The two rooms of this museum are stuffed with curiosities and background information on the cultural and artistic elite that were the constant companions of Guillermo "Pajarito" Velarde Mors, the consummate bohemian who brought tango to Salta and lived here from 1930 to 1965. The space is brimming with the trinkets, art, and possessions belonging to this eccentric. Take a look at the hat that Carlos Gardel gave him and the rosewood bed that folk singer Atahualpa Yupanki slept on. Even if you're not au fait with Argentine culture from half a century ago, this museum is a delightful tribute to a real character who owned one of the finest tango record collections in Salta.
