Fodor's Review

Perched on a hill where the Correntoso River runs into Nahuel Huapi Lake, this landmark hotel celebrates its place in history with old photos, light fixtures made from colihue branches, handwoven Mapuche fabrics, and custom furniture. Accommodations, which are at once cozy and contemporary, exploit the view—you can see the fish jump from your bedroom window. A restaurant ($$$$) overlooking the lake serves Patagonian specialties such as hare, wild boar, lamb, beef, and, of course, fish from local waters. The downstairs playroom, conference room, indoor-outdoor pool, and spa (with a riveting view from the massage table) all look out onto the lake, as well. Children under 10 who are not hotel guests aren't allowed in the dining room, but they are welcome in the original fisherman's shack on the lake, which has been converted to a casual café-bar serving snacks and sandwiches.
