When to Go
Late September to February—spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere—is high season in Patagonia. Reservations are advised, especially September and October in Atlantic and December-February in Southern Patagonia. Although the summer sun can be strong, the winds whistle year-round, so always bring extra layers and a windbreaker. In Atlantic Patagonia, many properties close in April and May to prepare for the first whale-watchers in June and July. Southern Patagonia all but shuts down June-August.
