The massive chalet is a local style icon, synonymous with the image of La Cumbrecita. Once the only house in the village, it was soon turned into a four-room hotel and has grown, along with the village, ever since. Although its scale is still impressive, its heavy hardwood furniture, floral bedspreads, and rather dim lighting feel old-fashioned. All meals are served in the wooden-clad dining room: unsurprisingly, German and Austrian fare is the basis of the menu. Pro: Hilltop setting provides stellar views. Con: Big spread-winged bird of prey taxidermy in the bar might be off-putting for some.
