Formerly based in Recoleta, this is one of several galleries putting their money on San Telmo as Buenos Aires' new art hub. Although renovations have left the building as trendily stripped and bare as other nearby spaces, Zavaleta stands out for its impeccable taste. The focus is on contemporary painting and drawing that will weather changing art trends well. Exhibitions have included the bright, post-pop paintings of Daniel García and Alberto Passolini, and the sculptures

and collages of contemporary local legend León Ferrari.
