Porteños linger at this quintessential sidewalk café opposite the Recoleta Cemetery, sipping espressos, discussing politics, and people-watching—all of which are best done at a table beneath the shade of an ancient rubber tree. Service can be spotty, but if you're just there for a coffee, who cares. Keep your eyes open for actor and tango enthusiast Robert Duvall, who is a regular here.

    Ladies, watch out for your purse in this popular restaurant! You are an easy target both inside and outside. It's gone before you know it!

    A friend had recommended lunch here and we fortunately followed her advice. The location under the spreading branches of the old rubber tree was great and the food was very good. The prices were a little higher because we ate outside, but that is typical in BA. My pizza was the best we had in Argentina and the service was friendly and efficient.
