Fodor's Review

Tall white columns and stately bow windows flank the entrance of the Claridge Hotel, beyond which you'll find the high-ceilinged lobby and a traditional British café and piano bar that draws a steady stream of politicians and businessmen. The brick building dates from 1946, and was built with an Anglo-Argentine clientele in mind. That feeling lingers in the spacious, elegant rooms with elegant wood furnishings and flowing draperies. The pool and spa are ideal for chilling

out after a long porteño night.

Very Pleased

I just got back from my first trip to Buenos Aires. The Claridge is in a great, centralized location. Within a few hundred feet of Florida, the pedestrian shopping mecca of downtown BA. Many great cafes in the area. Within a 15 minute walk of Plaza de Mayo and other downtown sites. 15-20 peso cab ride to just about everywhere else in the city you'd want to go. Friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast is very good, the hotel restaurant serves up really good

steaks, and the bar makes awesome drinks. I would highly recommend the Claridge.

Oustanding value

Small rooms sparingly furnished do not detract from the overall quality of this hotel. Service is impeccable, and the full American buffet breakfast borders on sumptuous. Though located in the heart of downtown, the hotel is remarkably quiet. Outstanding value.

Class and excellent value

In the hustle and bustle of "el centro", the recessed driveway and columned entrance of the Claridge is your first view of this classy hotel..and the impression lingers. The lobby is handsome, the hotel staff is efficient and courteous. The conceirge very knowledgable and friendly. The breakfast was very good and lunch upon arrival was terrific, the wood panelled room obviously a preferred meeting place for businessmen and savvy tourists. The

pool's a great respite from a busy day of sightseeing and shopping. The room was good with evening turndown service, just a little small. The bathroom..... OK, that was a little tight, maybe it's the damn bidet that takes up a few too many inches. My one complaint. The walls are a little thin and the bathroom vent duct seems to transmit or actually amplify conversation. Be careful what you say unless you want eveyone to know! And close the bathroom door so you don't feel you are sharing the room with strangers! Nevertheless, plan to return. Great value for the money. Go wine and dine at the Alvear Palace with the saved dough!
