Long white columns front the entrance, beyond which is the high-ceilinged lobby and a traditional British café and piano bar. The redbrick building dates from 1946 and was built with an Anglo-Argentine clientele in mind; that feeling lingers in the spacious, elegant rooms with their bright floral patterns and wood paneling. Bathrooms are on the small side. The pool and spa are ideal for chilling out after a long Porteño night.

I just got back from my first trip to Buenos Aires. The Claridge is in a great, centralized location. Within a few hundred feet of Florida, the pedestrian shopping mecca of downtown BA. Many great cafes in the area. Within a 15 minute walk of Plaza de Mayo and other downtown sites. 15-20 peso cab ride to just about everywhere else in the city you'd want to go. Friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast is very good, the hotel restaurant serves up really good steaks, and the bar makes awesome drinks. I would highly recommend the Claridge.
