Hotel Madero Review

This slick hotel is within walking distance of downtown as well as the riverside ecological reserve, and is a favorite for visiting British rock stars and fashion photographers. Culinary bad-boy and TV star Anthony Bourdain also slept here. The big, bright, modern rooms have wood accents and white color schemes. Many rooms also have fantastic views of the docks and city skyline. The restaurant, Red, serves great Argentine-French fusion cuisine in an intimate setting. The breakfast buffet features fresh fruits and Argentine baked goods.

This hotel seemed like a nice hotel until my phone was stollen from my room, and the worst part was that nothing was done about it by the staff. They interviewed all staff who had accessed the room that day and when no one confessed just let the issue slide. With management like that I would not be surprised if this happens again. According to the staff one should lock up anything valuable in the hotel safe. Hopefully most of your processions are not valuable since that safe is pretty small. Overall nice hotel but horrible experience, spent most of the stay jumping through hoops and trying to track down management to try to resolve the issue and in the end just received a, "We are sorry".

I've stayed at the Madero a few times when it was with the Accor group. As of 01SEP08 they are no longer affiliated with the group. I was not notified by the Accor group, so therefore did not receive any Sofitel points (no fault of the hotel)
The property remains in the high standards of the Accor group with regards to cleanliness. The entire staff continues to be one of the most efficient and friendly group of people that I have had the pleasure of meeting. One slight problem with an employee in the White Bar was dealt with promptly by the food and beverage manager Mr. Orvack. I feel that the food in the Resto Red has actually improved. I had one of the best veal chops I have ever tasted. The Sunday Brunch was equally delicious. Impecable service, great quality and quantity ! The guest service manager Mr. Harrington went out of his way to insure that my stay was excellent. Ines in the business center continues to be extremely friendly and efficient.
I will continue to return to this hotel while in Buenos Aires, even though I am given the choice of the Sofitel Buenos Aires. I will also continue to highly recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues worldwide. Gracias !
