Atlantic Patagonia describes the eastern seaboard of Chubut province from Península Valdés to Comodoro Rivadavía, approximately 318 mi from north to south, and extending inland another 90 mi to Sarmiento.
Although the Atlantic coast is the least-traveled region of Patagonia, it has become increasingly popular with small group tours from Europe, which has helped establish a good tourist infrastructure (including English-speaking attendants at most information centers), even in remote towns such as Camarones. The local people throughout the region are generally affable and helpful, and visitors who speak Spanish or at least try will be treated with special cariño (affection).
