Marine Wildlife: Península Valdés is home to sea lions, elephant seals, southern right whales, and orcas. At Punta Pirámides thousands of right whales come to mate and give birth each year from June to mid-December.
Seabirds: Exceptional populations of seabirds nest here, including arctic terns, blackish oystercatchers, cormorants, southern giant petrels, and steamer ducks. At Punta Tombo, 500,000 penguins waddle to the sea on "penguin highways."
Diving: Protected from the open sea by the Peninsula Valdés, the tranquil, clear Golfo Nuevo off the coast of Puerto Madryn is the scuba-diving capital of Argentina. Unique dives include diving with sea lions.
Catching up on Your Welsh: In the largest Welsh colony outside of Wales, Gaiman's citizens have preserved their traditions and language. Historic teahouses serve scones, cakes, and tarts from centuries-old recipes.
