This simple pocket-size hotel occupies the stretch of sand known as Arpoador. Surfers ride the waves, and pedestrians rule the roadway -- a traffic-free street allows direct beach access. At sunset the view from the rocks that mark the end of the beach is considered one of Rio's most beautiful. The spectacle is visible from the hotel's back rooms (deluxe rooms) that face Arpoador Beach; avoid the front rooms, which are noisy. Built in the '70s, the hotel has since been renovated and has a well-known seafood restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the beach. Some rooms are much larger than others, so specify if you have a preference.
