1555 Malabia House

$$, Palermo

User Rating: ***** 4.7

Fodor's Review:

Behind the unassuming white facade of this 100-year-old Palermo Soho town house is what the proprietors have dubbed Argentina's "first designer B&B." Common areas have bold, colorful paintings and fanciful sculptures. Rooms, only some of which have en suite baths, are all about pale-wood floors and furnishings and simple white bedding and curtains. Both sides of the narrow hallways are lined with rooms, eliminating any sense of privacy but the bustling Palermo location is hard to beat. The young staff can steer you toward the neighborhood's newest restaurants and nightspots.

Nowhere else to stay but Malabia House

My husband and I spent 9 days recently in Buenos Aires and this hotel was our home base the entire time. The property is really beautiful, like staying with a fantastic friend with a gorgeous home. The beds are super comfy and room was great. In the morning it is a bit noisy with folks coming and going, but here are the reasons that this is a minor issue. The location is terrific. Palermo Viejo has all the restaurants, bars and shopping you could want. We could have spent all our time in this area, but you will want to get out and see all that B.A. has to offer. The one thing that sets this place apart from all the rest is the staff. Only at the Amalfi Hotel in Chicago have I been treated this well. They bent over backwards to make sure we had reservations everywhere we wanted to eat and/or drink and always let us know the coolest places. Pablo, Santi, Lesi, Marta, Dani and especially Matias all became friends during this trip. It is the only place I have ever cried when I left because I knew I would miss them all so much. If you are looking for an experience that makes you feel like royalty, then the Malabia House is the place for you.
