Just behind the lobby, the original dining room designed by Robert Reamer in 1903 -- and expanded by him in 1927 -- has lodgepole-pine walls and ceiling beams and a giant volcanic rock fireplace graced with a contemporary painting of Old Faithful by the late Paco Young. Note the etched-glass panels featuring partying cartoon animals that separates the dining room from the Bear Pit Lounge. These are reproductions of oak panels commissioned by Reamer in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition. A buffet offers quantity over quality: bison, chicken, shrimp, two salads, two soups, and a dessert. You're better off choosing from nearly a dozen entrees on the à la carte menu, including grilled salmon, baked chicken, prime rib, and bison rib eye. Expect at least one vegetarian entrée (pasta and/or tofu) in addition to a choice of salads and soups (roasted red pepper and Gouda, for example). Save room for a signature dessert such as the Caldera, a chocolate truffle torte with a molten middle. The most extensive wine list in the park offers more than 50 (all American) choices, including sparkling and nonalcoholic varieties (from $20 to $70 per bottle).

WOW! I absolutely love the dining room at the Old Faithful Inn. We have been to Yellostone at least 15 times and we always make sure we eat the the inn. The food is excellent, the service is fast and friendly and it's not overpriced. But you eat there for the atmosphere..where else can you dine around big pine trees? I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
