Buffalo Bill Birthday Ball. Hundreds of folks, some of them dressed in turn-of-the-20th-century attire, dance in Cody until the wee hours to celebrate the birthday of William F. Cody. The ball, held on a Saturday in late February, is at Cody Auditorium, which is dressed up as Wolfville Hall for the occasion. World Snowmobile Expo. For more than two decades, this March event has celebrated top-notch racing while offering a sneak peek at next year's hot models. The SnowWest SnoCross attracts racers to West Yellowstone from throughout the nation. Races are held just to the west of town. 406/646–7701. www.snowmobileexpo.com.
Cody Stampede Rodeo. The "Rodeo Capital of the World" hosts an annual event around July 4 that is affectionately known as "Cowboy Christmas."
