Fodor's Review

Traveling from west to east, you climb slowly as you straddle Yellowstone Caldera, a 30-mile-by-45-mile crater formed by a volcanic eruption. Pull over to see the Gibbon River as it tumbles into the caldera at 84-foot Gibbon Falls. You'll also pass several roadside geothermal features—Monument Geyser and Artists Paintpots are worthwhile stops—before you arrive at Norris Geyser Basin.
