Fodor's Review:

Near the beautiful Lamar Valley in the park's northeast corner, this simple lodge dating from the 1920s surpasses some of the more expensive options. All lodging is in rustic cabins set around a pine forest. Some cabins have bathrooms, but most do not, though there is a bathhouse nearby. Roughrider cabins may have woodstoves as the only heating system. You can make arrangements here for horseback and stagecoach rides. Pros: Closest cabins to Lamar Valley and its world-famous wildlife, authentic Western ranch feel, Roughrider cabins are the most inexpensive in the park. Cons: Cabins are very close together and many lack private bathrooms, you may have to draw straws to stoke the fire at 3 AM if your Roughrider cabin has only a woodstove.
