T Cross Ranch

Pros

  • A genuine dude ranch, surrounded by the beautiful Shoshone National Forest, with a focus on horses, hiking, backpacking, and fishing
  • Eco-emphasis includes power supplied by wind turbines

Cons

  • Tennis players and golfers should book elsewhere. Those wishing to vacation closer to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks might find themselves too far and on the wrong side of the mountains here

Fodor's Review

At this traditional guest ranch in an isolated valley 15 mi north of Dubois, the eight cozy cabins have porches with rocking chairs, fireplaces or woodstoves, and handmade log furniture. You can snuggle under a down quilt by night and spend your days riding horses. Hosts Gretchen and Mark Cardall were raised in the ranching tradition, and they know how to match people to horses. Weeklong and three-night stays are available.
