The town's oldest saloon, known as the "Merc," serves refreshments in a room that has seen its share of gold miners, perhaps an outlaw or two, and certainly some ruffians. When you step through the doors of this 1893 building with tin ceilings, a massive back bar, and an assortment of mismatched oak tables and chairs, you may feel as though you've walked directly into an episode of Gunsmoke. At times a honky-tonk piano player is on hand. The menu includes steak,
chicken, and seafood, plus sandwiches and big burgers.
