Hiking

Bridger-Teton National Forest (340 N. Cache St., Box 1888, 307/739–5500, www.fs.usda.gov/btnf) covers hundreds of thousands of acres of western Wyoming and shelters abundant wildlife. Permits for backcountry use of the forest are necessary only for groups and commercial operators such as outfitters. Contact the forest office for more information.

The Hole Hiking Experience. Guides at the Hole Hiking Experience will take you to mountain meadows or to the tops of the peaks on half- or full-day tours. Jackson Hole Mountain Guides. You can take part in wilderness camping, climbing, and exploration of alpine areas with experienced guides on day trips, on overnight excursions, or as part of regular classes offered by Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.
